A Calm, Considered Approach to Bay Area Homes

The idea for this company was birthed from an experience my family and I went through a few years ago. In October of 2023, my family and I were forced to evacuate our home of 30+ years due to a black mold infestation in the kitchen caused by a leak under the kitchen sink. Since the remediation company that our insurance hired did not remove the contamination according to proper protocol, the mold spores spread from the kitchen to the rest of the house. Hence, what should have taken a few months to repair our kitchen became a 2+ year - full house restoration.

For the last 2 yrs and 4 months, my mom and I moved 11 times. Within that period, my mom and I had to store things in our cars with whatever didn’t fit in the garage since the whole house had to be emptied and cleaned. During this period we were also fighting a legal battle with AAA since the whole house became contaminated due to their unprofessionalism and cutting corners with the initial remediation company to save costs.

Not only was I still working my full time W-2 job, but I was also embarking on my first house flip, ironically while my personal home was being fixed simultaneously. The frequent moving, sometimes having to leave a place and not knowing where we would sleep that night, this prolonged stress pushed me past the limit. I had to take time off from work in 2024 and 2025 due to the overwhelming stress that triggered my first ever emotional/mental breakdowns.

The things that got me through this HARD period that I hope I never have to re-live were our amazing friends, my CrossFit gym which became a safe space where I could temporarily forget my situation and take out the stress in a healthy way, and most importantly, my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

So - when we finally moved back home and I was organizing things in my room, I began to reflect on the whole experience for the last 2 years. I asked God, "Father, what was the point of all this pain? I know something more has to come out of this besides getting our home fixed at AAA's expense."

And in that moment, I heard God’s voice so loud and clear it shook me. I heard in my spirit He said, “Do you think you’re the only one going through this? There’s many other people going through similar situations, and worse circumstances than you were in.” There was a pause…then He said “Now that you’re secure and back at home, you are going to help others, because NOW YOU UNDERSTAND.”

I started crying because I finally understood, after 2 years, the meaning behind all the pain, exhaustion, frustration, stress, and questioning God for allowing this. Even writing this now makes me emotional again, because I now see the situation through God’s perspective, which has lifted such a heaviness off me. God gave me a scripture to meditate on, Isaiah 55:8-9.

I officially started the business in March 2026, Fresh Start Living LLC, posted my services on 2 platforms, and slowly been growing my clientele. It is nothing short of the power of God to see the doors that are opening and the connections being made with amazing people to spread this business and the positive impact I’m able to make in my community. The biggest blessing of it all is to give back to those who need help, and understanding their pain points because I can relate after my own experience. With God, He can turn all things for good.
